i would love to own that too. That is my holy grail of racecars.I have collected a lot of pictures over the years of the various different versions of this car.Its 1st race was the 74 "American 500" in Rockingham, it had the #2 and was driven by Trickle as well as the 75 "Daytona 500" in the #75 livery. It was lettered a little different and driven by Bobby Isaac at the 75 "National 500" at Charlotte.Ritchie Panch drove it twice in late'75 at the fall Atlanta race and at Ontario. It was painted white with #98 and "greyrock" as the sponsor

That IS a 1973 body car. Puro Racing driven by Dick Trickle and others. If you look in the stock car section on here you will see some pictures of that car. It was destroyed in the 1975 Daytona 500
The '73 MGT was run in 1974 & 75 NASCAR . Car bodies were allowed for 2 years of production back then. The Wood Brothers were the most famous team to run that car for 2 years. As Fordfan above stated it was numbered and painted different times.
To me THE holy grail would have been able to see and document the Wood Brothers #21 but never to be as it was rebodied to the 1974 body (the famous finish car) which is in a museum now.

Yea Ian, when you mention the Wood brothers its pretty synonymous with nascar history. If I remember correctly, you got more money for winning if you were in a current year car. I was following some guys rebuilding a Cougar (link below) but they stopped posting so maybe they gave up. The Montego didn't meet the reserve (50K high bid) which is way outta my league. Thats museum money or somebody with more money than me who does the nostalgia races.
